Tiny Acres "Hamtramck Grown"

MY BUTTON
Our Community Farm

Tiny Acres is located in the heart of Hamtramck, Michigan. Our land consist of 3/4 an acre with a rain catchment system, 50 fruit trees, hoop house, and stainless steel handicap accessible raised beds.  This year will mark our 14th growing season.

We are a sustainable, small scale farm that grows from Non Gmo seed and employs permaculture practices.  We never use pesticides and are all organic.  We spend most of our time teaching elementary students environmental curriculum.

Our goals are to inspire future generations of stewards in agriculture, nutrition, ecology, cooking, art and engineering through a hands on learning environment.

Some organizations we have partnered with over the years are as follows; Recycle Here, Michigan Neighborhood Exchange, The Nature Conservancy, Girls Rock Detroit, Hamtramck Labor Day Festival, Michigan Community Resources, Eastern Market, Hamtramck Design Festival, NRCS Charter One Growing Communities and The Hamtramck Neighborhood Arts Festival.

Fire hits Tiny Acres, HELP!!

Fire damage to Tiny Acres

Unfortunately the house next to our farm caught fire over the spring and we lost our bees due to fire damage, and our shed was destroyed.  We are having a really hard time with the contractors who are renovating the property next to us and are facing property damage on a daily basis.

We try to be upstanding neighbors; our farm helps mitigate flooding, beautify the neighborhood, offer resources and learning opportunities for everyone in our community.  We could use some extra help with the upkeep of Tiny Acres.  We keep having to deal with bad contractors who keep dumping their construction and fire debris on our property, since December.  If you have any trail cams, strong leaf blowers, or a loud voice (to tell the city of Hamtramck that the contractors permit to build should be pulled) please help and reach out to us!

Traveling STEAM Program & Nutritional Kitchen Program

We are partnering with the Nature Conservancy and Holbrook Elementary School to create STEAM related curriculum with a  hands-on approach.  Tiny Acres provides a place where kids can get their hands dirty, learn about ecosystems, practice their culinary skills, become stewards of their community and learn basic gardening skills.  This year we will also be forming our Green Team Initiative that will expand beyond the school season and into the summer.
